Alexis Cardenas

Hi there! My name is Alexis Cardenas, and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. Although everyone has a story that shapes who we are, I truly believe that our current struggles and past experiences don’t have to limit all that we can become. I utilize a client-centered approach to therapy, where I strive to create a balance between meeting people where they are but also encouraging personal growth. My ultimate hope as a therapist is to create a safe, non-judgemental, and collaborative space where you can build a more enriched and fulfilling life in all aspects — to feel safe and confident in your mind, body, environment, and interpersonal relationships. I am dedicated to helping people become mindful of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so they can feel empowered to harness existing strengths and develop new skills to create meaningful changes in their lives.

I have experience providing individual and group therapy in school settings, a sexual assault/child abuse trauma crisis center, and private practice. I have had the pleasure of working with children, adolescents, and adults from diverse backgrounds, helping them learn healthy ways of coping with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, low-self esteem, anger, child abuse, trauma, and PTSD symptoms. I know that starting anything new can be daunting, but it is never too late to invest in yourself, and I would be happy to support you in your journey toward becoming the person you want to be and fostering healthy relationships in your life.

Our first communication will be an intake session, which is fairly structured. You will have plenty of time to share your needs and we will evaluate if it is a good fit. From there, we will create a treatment plan that includes goals for therapy and the estimated time to complete them. Homework is given from time to time with weekly check-ins on progress & growth.
